Staying alive… But at what cost?

Wednesday April 19, 2017

Don’t worry, at least you’ve got your health’, say the optimists. And thanks to the brilliant work of the NHS, they are more often than not absolutely right. Your health is your first priority, whether it be mental or physical, it always comes first. Anybody who has tried coming to work having pushed a health issue to the back of their mind will know that it rarely ends well.

Keeping staff in fighting form is getting harder. This month prescription and dental charges are rising, albeit with inflation. But some wages aren’t. Healthcare in this country is getting more expensive, and in certain places difficult to come by. If you call your GP or dental surgery you could find yourself at the back of a three-week-long waiting list.

It’s a dangerous cocktail. Employees that find it difficult to access the healthcare they need often postpone treatment until an emergency; not great for them or you having to pay for their sick leave.

 Offering employee health benefits

Job hunters also know the score. There are employers out there offering health plans as part of their benefit schemes. Benefit offerings like this really pull in candidates: it shows that you care about the people that work for you.

We’d be the first to recommend a health benefits offering for your business. We’ve seen the positive impact that access to world-class healthcare can have: not just on the well-being of your staff but the relationship that you have with them. So what’s stopping small businesses from offering health benefits? Cost? Don’t want the admin?

Employee health benefits for small businesses

Health plans are traditionally a reserve of the blue-chip. The launch of The HR Dept’s healthcare offering changed that, opening the door to small business owners looking to extend their employee benefit offerings.

Not sure how these health plans will work? Wondering whether they’d be right for your business? Give The HR Dept a ring or scroll down to ask us a question. We’re happy to advise.
