Training and Development opportunities for your employees

To help businesses fund training opportunities which will attract new talent and upskill your workforce, there are several schemes and initiatives available both locally and nationally. We’ve highlighted some of the new, and long-running support packages which The HR Dept can help you access.

Who can access apprenticeships?

Anyone employed from the 1st April 2021 is eligible for an apprenticeship, with no age restrictions! Employees who have a degree can also take part. With apprenticeships available from Level 2 up to Level 7, they are accessible to anyone within your business and are a great tool for engaging and retaining your workforce.

What funding is available?

The government will fund 95% of the cost of the programme. Furthermore, you can claim £3,000 per employee for anyone within your business who commenced employment between 1st April 2021 and 30th September 2021. This will help you:

• to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment
• as an incentive payment for other costs

The closing date for applications is 30th November 2021 for employees who started between 1st April and 30th September 2021.

Employees who commenced employment between 1^st October 2021 and 31st January 2022 will be able to apply for funding from January 2022.

An additional £1000 incentive payment is available for apprentices aged 16-18.

Eligibility

The amount payable depends on whether you pay the apprenticeship levy or not. You pay the levy if you’re an employer with a pay bill over £3 million each year.

If you do not pay the levy

• You pay 5% towards the cost of training and assessing your apprentice but you won’t be invoiced for this payment until you have received your first £1500 payment, making this a cash positive exercise.
