Are you ready to introduce homeworking?

Wednesday March 11, 2020

With increasing numbers of employees likely to be working from home over the coming days, weeks and possibly months, it’s time to make sure that you are properly geared up to enable homeworking in your company.

Although every job, every person and every home may not be best suited to homeworking, we will all have to be more flexible and exercise good judgement under current circumstances (coronavirus) to minimise levels of disruption to business and to protect our health, safety and wellbeing.

Here are a few things that you should do if you are introducing homeworking

  • Put a policy in place which sets out the arrangements for how home working will apply in practice.
  • Carry out a health and safety risk assessment to make sure the home working environment is appropriate.
  • Ensure appropriate and secure technology is in place
  • Set clear expectations of the quality and quantity of work you require
  • Keep in touch so that your employees don’t feel isolated.
