  • Self-employed, worker or employee?’ – Understand the importance of getting the employment status right of people you ‘take on’.
  • Contracts of Employment – what to issue and when. Are your contracts up to date, including the latest clauses that have to be included for new employees? GDPR requirements and privacy notices?
  • Discrimination risks – are you aware of where you may face risk at any stage when employing people, from recruitment through to dismissal and the 9 protected characteristics under The Equality Act 2010?

  • Disciplinary and Grievance – understand the differences between capability and conduct, what could be a grievance and how to manage one.
  • Holidays – are you aware of statutory rights for holiday entitlement and how to calculate, especially for part-time, casual and zero-hours staff?
