Ciara McGovern

Managing Director

Ciara has over 20 years HR experience in both the private and public sectors and has managed the full range of HR services, delivering success projects and advice to diverse teams and businesses. Ciara works with a wide range of SME and third sector clients across many sectors.

Ciara has lived in Scotland for over 20 years and enjoys travelling to places on her “bucket list” and socialising in the wonderful city of Edinburgh.

Michaela McLean

HR Business Partner

Michaela has over 20 years’ experience working within HR, providing professional advice, guidance and support to managers in both an operational and strategic capacity, across all aspects of the employee life cycle. Michaela is incredibly passionate about helping businesses deliver on their people needs and achieve their goals and objectives.

Michaela has supported senior leaders across both private and public sectors.

Scott Stables

HR Advisor

Scott has 8 years of HR experience across a broad array of sectors including construction, manufacturing, and retail. Scott has a track record of meeting business objectives and building trusting relationships across organisations.

Outside of work, Scott is an ultramarathoner and can usually be found on the trails around Edinburgh.

Bruna De Juana Ferre

HR Advisor

Bruna moved to Scotland from Spain in 2019. After COVID, she started her career in HR as an HR Administrator in the hospitality sector. Since then she has developed into an HR Advisor, which she loves. She has worked for charities, hotels and leisure organizations and is keen to learn about different types of companies through her new role at the HR Dept.

She enjoys extensive walks around Edinburgh, creative writing, going to live music gigs and trying food from all around the world, but above all spending time with her sassy cat.

Katie Gillespie

HR Graduate

Katie has 2 years’ experience working in a small organisation as a HR Assistant, supporting the Operations Manager, and leading on general HR activities.

In her spare time, Katie likes to listen to music, go to concerts, and socialise with friends.

Tim Dasiukevich

HR Admin Assistant

Tim has many years of experience working in human resources and supports the team in any way he can.

Tim graduated in music from Edinburgh University and still plays the bass guitar in his spare time. He also enjoys keeping active by playing football, bouldering and boxing.

Rory Pilbeam

Finance Officer

With over four years of experience at The HR & HS Dept, and over 25 as the CEO’s son, Rory, has a solid grasp of what The HR Dept is all about. He used to do the marketing and now Rory manages the financial sides of things. Like father, like son, Rory’s passions include football, travel, and music.

Tara Connolly

Health and Safety Manager

With over a decade of experience working in health and safety roles across the public, private and third sectors, Tara is the recent addition to the team. Her aim is to bring progressive improvement and change which enhance compliance and promote positive health and safety culture for our clients through support and understanding. Tara’s spare time is taken up crafting, writing, or pursuing other artsy ventures. She also enjoys planning meet-ups with friends and family, eating cheese and avoiding the gym wherever possible

Callum Clark-Smith

Health & Safety Officer

Callum brings over a decade of experience in the sport and leisure industry, where he developed passion for health & safety. During his tenure, he became an integral member of the health & safety team, contributing to the development and implementation of key safety protocols.

Now transitioning to a full-time career in health and safety, Callum leverages his extensive knowledge and experience to support organisations in fostering safe and compliant environments.

Outside of work, Callum plays Australian Rules Football, having competed at the international level. He also enjoys unwinding with trips to the cinema.

Ian Pilbeam

CEO

Ian heads up the HR Dept Edinburgh, Mid & East Lothian team. With nearly 30 years HR experience, Ian has a wealth of experience in helping businesses to ensure success through their people, be legally compliant and handle tricky people issues. As a business owner himself, Ian understands the challenges that come with running and growing a business.

Ian’s straightforward, honest approach to any client has made him a trusted partner among dozens of organisations, across a wide range of sectors, looking to avoid people problems or manage difficult situations. He is known for his ability to explain complex concepts simply and to make learning fun and enjoyable.

Ian lives in Edinburgh and is a huge sport and music fan, with an insatiable appetite for world travel fuelled by his round the world trip with his family a few years ago.
