Absence Management, Employment Law + Health & Safety Update November 2021

We have all experienced having to cover last minute absences and know it can add pressure on colleagues.  There are some quick and simple ways to reduce short term absences which Maria shared at our webinar so you can start managing absence more effectively right away.

Longer term absences are perhaps easier to plan for once they are known but present uncertainty around temporary cover arrangements and when a return to work might be possible.  Just how do you get the information you need to manage long term absence to facilitate a successful return to work or, in some cases, sadly work out when it is time to part company?  Maria talked us through a case study to illustrate how you can manage long term absence more effectively.

Turning to the employment law update session, we have all seen lots in the news about menopause but what has it got to do with us as employers?  Helen discussed whether menopause is a disability and why it is important for employers to support women in the workplace.

There was an update on all things affecting HR in the budget.

In addition, are you planning for Christmas yet?  We are all hoping we can get together with family and friends, along with the return of the workplace Christmas party so Helen shared a few things to think about to keep your Christmas do fun and inclusive for all.

Are you unsure what your Covid secure arrangements should look like now we have less direction from the Government?  What about H&S obligations when considering sickness absence in general?  Fintan covered these in the health and safety session.
