If your business has staff that require security checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), The HR Dept can help. We can advise on what is necessary, run the checks and provide guidance based upon the results.
What are DBS checks?
DBS checks are safeguarding procedures which must be carried out for applicants of certain roles, for instance those who will be working with children or vulnerable adults. They involve searches against national databases, and were formerly known as Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Checks. There are three types of check:
Standard: A standard check looks at spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, cautions and final warnings.
Enhanced: The same as Standard but with relevant information held by local police also considered.
Enhanced with list checks: The same as enhanced but with an added look at DBS barred lists.
