Our founder, Sue Tumelty, started The HR Dept in 2002 when she saw an opportunity to provide local, personal, and expert HR and employment law advice to SME businesses. Sue began to look at how she could help other HR professionals to set up their own business quickly and easily under The HR Dept brand, and in 2005 the franchise was formed.

Since 2005, we have supported over 70 HR professionals across the UK and Ireland who had previously held senior HR positions start their own businesses. If you are a strong, motivated, CIPD qualified HR professional with the drive and energy to succeed, we can provide the support and guidance to help you build your own business.
