Many small firms struggle to achieve significant growth, staying pretty much as they were when the business started. Others move from small time to the big league, often very rapidly. So, what is the key to achieving significant growth and could your business make that leap?

At the Chamber Breakfast Club, we will discuss ways to grow a small business into a larger and more profitable venture. The speakers will be:

Ian Pilbeam, Managing Director of The HR Dept. In 2008, Ian quit his secure HR Director job and went backpacking round the world for a year with his wife and young kids, returning home in the depths of the recession with no money and no job. Four years into the growth of his business, he will share how he has implemented some of these transferable lessons from travel into business.

Tony Hoskins joined ActionCOACH in 2005 as a Leadership| Executive | Business Coach, following a 25 year career in the European Glass Industry. He will speak about the value of starting a business from a perspective of ‘begin with the end in mind’ and  will look at some practical, commercially-based steps to help address the business owner’s chosen target market head on. Tony will challenge our self-awareness and remind us that to lead others we first need to lead ourselves.

As always there will be plenty of opportunity to network with potential contacts.

Handling discipline and grievance issues can be costly and time consuming. With consequences both financially and in terms of your reputation, it is imperative that you follow a timely, fair and legal process. Knowing the steps to achieve this is key to minimising risk.

In this informative and interactive workshop, we will follow our characters, Harry and Larry, through a disciplinary procedure.

Throughout, we’ll be observing the ACAS framework, covering suspension, investigation, disciplinary hearing and decisions, appeals and the keeping of appropriate records. Working through case studies and other ‘real-life’ examples, you will leave confident with a host of practical tips.
