HR is a vital function in any organisation. If you manage HR matters you are dealing with delicate and confidential issues which need to be handled correctly and lawfully.

With an average award in 2016 of £13,851 (max £470,865) for unfair dismissal and £85,622 (max £1,762,130) for sex discrimination (plus legal fees and reputation damage) the cost to your business could be devastating.

The primary focus of this half day workshop is to provide participants with a broad but practical overview of the human resource function. Parmilla Minhas from the HR Dept Watford & Chorleywood will lead the workshop covering your responsibilities as an employer from the beginning to the end of the employment relationship. You will learn essential knowledge on how to manage areas such as:

Employment status and contract types
Employment Law – discrimination, tribunals
Diversity
GDPR Compliance
Difficult Conversations: disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence
Family Friendly
End of Employment
9.30am Coffee
9.45 Introductions
10.00 Part 1 Workshop
approx 11.30 Coffee break
11.45 Part 2 Workshop
1pm Workshop concludes
Ideal for Business owners or anyone who has responsibility for HR within their Organisation.

We intentionally keep our groups small to enable time for discussion and questions, therefore early booking is essential.

Are you an SME owner or Manager who:

1. Runs a growing SME but undecided on whether to outsource HR matters to an HR professional?

2. Have employees working for you but feel overwhelmed managing them, as it is taking up time away from running your business?

3. Would like to understand the difference between a worker, employee and self-employed contractor and whether this distinction impacts your business? If yes, what could be the implications?

4. Is constantly dealing with recurring issues with workers and just wish they would go away?

5. Would like to know about recent changes to Employment Law and any Case Laws.

If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, then this workshop will be useful to you.

Please come along to this interactive session to understand some of the very basic legal aspects of managing workers that every SME owner should be aware of, but in reality does not have the time to keep track of. And many a times, we don’t know what we don’t know because the law is constantly changing.
